Here's a list of songs that are simple and fun to play on the guitar. Most require a bit of distortion and whatnot, but they are possible with an acoustic. I don't want to be accused of elitism.
Supermassive Black Hole - Muse: An easy song mostly played on the sixth string.
Paranoid - Black Sabbath: A classic riff, easily played but it sounds good. The verse has basically three chords, all very easy. The solo requires work, but it's not hard.
Seek And Destroy - Metallica: A great sounding heavy metal epic, known for being the last song Metallica play in their live sets. There's a lot of palm muting and fast down picking, but it's quite easy.
Enter Sandman - Metallica: A classic intro, played clean. Then it goes into a heavy, chugging riff. Great fun to play and not difficult at all.
Breaking The Law - Judas Priest: Another great song, all played with either easy power chords or easy fretted notes. There's no solo and it's a gentle song on the hands.
Back In Black - AC/DC: Oh yes. Probably the most memorable riff in metal history. Easy power chords and slow enough for even a beginner to play.
Please feel free to add more songs in this thread, along with a short reason why. This is here for members who may just be starting playing songs. Enjoy them.

Rage Against The Machine's "Killing in The Name Of" is pretty easy. Great for warming up.
